Have you ever read alexei? He's one of my favorite authors. Admittedly He is one of the few Native American authors I know about and have read, any recommendations?

I have read a bit of literature by him, particularly the screenplay for "Smoke Signals"... which is one of my favorite movies :) I would highly recommend Vine Deloria Jr. He is more of an activist/realist writer, but he brings up some amazing points about religion, politics, etc. with a Native twist. My favorite female native author is the lovely Louise Erdrich. It takes me a few times to read through her novels in order to get a perfect grasp on her character development and whatnot, but it is so worth the effort. Otherwise, when you come to visit you can peruse the bookshelf- basically every book I own is written by a Native author. I even have a few books of native poetry that are really visually impressive.
